FAQ'S
Q. What can I expect, where the resort provides housing?
A. Most houses sleep between 8-15 employees, these are large family houses with a communal kitchen and living room, usually Internet and cable television is accessible to all.

Q. Will I have a single room?
A. Due to demand all rooms are occupied by two people. All rooms are large enough to house two single beds, Couples can specify double beds rather then singles.

Q. If housing is not provided how do I go about finding it?
A. In advance of arriving in the USA employees will be provided numerous housing contacts in the nearby areas. All efforts are made to help individuals, however we advise employees to team up to make the process less daunting.

Q. What if snow conditions are unpredictable, will this reduce the length of hours I can work? What if I cannot cover my housing costs?
A. Weather conditions are highly unpredictable in the mountains. If mother nature cannot deliver artificial snowmaking can create the necessary acreage for resorts to open. All efforts are made to keep employees working however in an average season there are periods when working hours are effected by a lack of snow.

Our advice is simple, be prepared and have sufficient funds to fall back on in such circumstances. We highly recommend all employees not to travel without such funds.

Q. Can I change my return date home?
A. All employees are contracted to work for the duration of their visa. Obviously emergencies such as ill health and family emergencies override this contractual obligation.

Q. Can I extend my stay in the USA and work the following summer?
A. We provide a number of channels for employees to find summer work and extend their stay. Most companies we work with will organise the necessary paper work but in some cases individuals are required to do this themselves. You are not limited to the companies we offer you, there are many agencies that are able to extend H2B visas and find work for you.

Q. Can I stay in the USA longer then my visa end date?
A. Staying longer will require a visa extension either an extended H2B or a holiday visa. We advise employees to plan ahead as the visa extension process can be lengthy. If you choose to leave the country after your visa has expired you risk being black listed from entering and working in the USA in future years. You will also be met with some serious questioning by immigration officers at the airport.

Q. Do I need insurance, even though the resort covers me?
A. The USA does not have a national health service all medical services are paid for. The insurance provided by the resort only covers you whilst you are working. If you have a need to see a medical practitioner however small the ailment you will be charged a fee. Basic medical insurance is a necessity.

Q. What should I expect from my time working in a ski resort?
A. Working in a ski resort is an exciting time, lots of new friends and wonderful opportunities to ski and snowboard. The reality sinks in after 4 weeks that its not a holiday and the work can be hard. Being homesick is a natural emotion; at some point all employees feel this way. We do not hide the fact that working in a ski resort can be tough, however the rewards are great. We do ask all our applicants to consider if they are up for the task ahead and if they are mentally and physically prepared for it?
