Guided, hybrid trek, French Alps
Make an Enquiry

Our 3 Peaks graded hybrid treks in the French Alps offer the best of both worlds - the comfort of our fabulous chalet on four nights, combined with the adventure of sleeping in the mountains on three.

The trek consists of two parts. Arriving on Saturday, we spend the first night in our comfortable catered chalet. We then set off on a three-day trek, the Tour de Fiz, which is one of the most scenic parts of our valley. We come back to our chalet on Tuesday evening and have a well-deserved full rest day, before setting off for another two-day trek, ending up in the aptly named End of the World.

Provisional itinerary
Below is a provisional itinerary for our 3 Peaks hybrid treks. Note that this may be subject to change depending on weather, group ability and other unforeseen factors.

Saturday - Arrival in Geneva and transfer to our comfortable chalet in Samoëns. Three-course evening meal with the other guests.

Sunday - We either set out directly from the chalet or take a very short minibus ride to save our legs as this is a fairly long day. We climb up from the valley floor through the impressive dry limestone Gorges des Tines, past the breathtaking Queen of the Alps (Cascade du Rouget) waterfall, further up onto the Anterne Alpine pasture where we'll spend the night, watched by the imposing Fiz limestone rock wall.
(up to 16km, 1,200m ascent, 300m descent, 7h30 walk)

Monday - On our second day, we pass the alpine Anterne lake before climbing up to the Anterne Pass, where on a clear day we can admire the entire Mont Blanc range, laid out in front of us. After a significant drop, we climb again before tackling the hair-raising Passage du Dérochoir, leading up to a pass gaining acess to the Sales valley. We drop down to the Sales hut to spend the night.
Note: The Passage du Dérochoir is a 200-metre almost vertical climb where you walk up a zigzag path with the help of chains, cables and ladders attached to the rock. The climb is perfectly feasible if you have a reasonably good head for heights.
(12km, 1,000m ascent, 1,000m descent, 7hrs walk)

Tuesday - On our last day of the first trek, we start off by scaling the fabulous Tête de Pelouse summit where we'll have lunch whilst admiring perfect 360-degree views. We then drop down to the Gers lake before walking through the forest all the way back to Samoëns.
(up to 19km, 900m ascent, 1,700m descent, 8-9hrs walk)

Wednesday - Rest day. This can be spent relaxing at the chalet, visiting the village market, or if you still have the energy, trying one of the many optional activities available in the valley, including paragliding, white water rafting and Via Ferratta. No evening meal will be provided that evening, but we are happy to reserve a table at a local restaurant if you wish.

Thursday - After our well-deserved rest, we are ready for the climb up to the beautiful turquouise blue Chambres lake, which may still have small icebergs floating in it! We then descend a little and spend the night in the fabulous Folly hut.
(8km, 1,300m ascent, 600m descent, 6hrs walk)

Friday - On our last day, we climb up to the karstic Combe aux Puaire, a veritable limestone labyrinth, before dropping down to the Vogealle lake. We then finish up in style by way of the outstanding End of The World, a classic U-shaped glacial valley.
(16km, 750m ascent, 1,400m descent, 9hrs walk)
