MTB skills holiday, Southern Scotland
The famous 7stanes all weather trails offer a range of riding to suit all levels of XC rider and each centre has its own unique style and landscape. These holidays combine the best trail centres with a day of riding the local, natural trails and are predominantly aimed at intermediate riders who are looking to experience the best that Southern Scotland has to offer, while also improving their bike skills along the way.
You can expect to be out riding for about 5 or 6 hours a day, allowing plenty of time for rest stops along the way. There will also be about an hour of transport each day, leaving ample time for a leisurely breakfast to start the day and also time to freshen up and rest before heading out for dinner each evening.
Below is a provisional itinerary for these holidays, with links to detailed trail centre information, including trail lengths and difficulty.
Sunday - Meeting point at Edinburgh around 16.00, transfer to Peebles accommodation, approximately 45 minutes from Edinburgh.
Monday - Arrange any bike hire requirements and prepare bikes and then ride the famous Glentress trails, before returning to Peebles accommodation.
Tuesday - Head off to ride trails at Newcastleton, Ae or Drumlanrig depending on preferences, group ability and local weather conditions. In the afternoon travel on to accommodation close to Dumfries.
Wednesday - Ride either Dalbeatie or Mabie trails and then return to guest house near Dumfries.
Thursday - A day of local and natural trail riding, before returning to accommodation close to Dumfries for the final night.
Friday - Transfer to Edinburgh for departures or for a weekend spent in this beautiful city.
